Presiden ke-7 RI, Joko Widodo (Jokowi), Wakil Presiden, Gibran Rakabuming, dan Wali Kota Medan, Bobby Nasution, recently spoke out following their dismissal from the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP). The expulsion, along with 27 other party members, was outlined in Decree number 1649/KPTS/DPP/XII/2024. The decision was announced by the Chairman of the PDIP Honorary Board, Komarudin Watubun.
Reasons for Dismissal
PDIP expelled Jokowi for actions deemed to have undermined the public’s trust in the party. His activities were cited as harmful to the party, including allegations of interfering with the Constitutional Court for personal interests, leading to a systemic impact on Indonesia’s democracy, legal system, and national ethics.
Gibran was dismissed for violating the party’s ethical code by running as a vice-presidential candidate for another party. Bobby faced expulsion for allegedly breaching ethics by running as a gubernatorial candidate in the 2024 local elections through a different party.
